How long does the GivEnergy warranty last?
All GivEnergy domestic battery systems come with a 12-year warranty as standard. With standard usage, the design life is up to 20 years.
What technologies are used to produce your batteries?
We exclusively use premium LiFePO4 technology – making the calibre of our products second to none. Our chemistry is cobalt free and uses lithium iron phosphate cathode technology – the safest cell technology on the market. This results in our cells being inert and eliminating oxidisation fire risk.
Our batteries also offer high system round trip efficiency, at 92.5%. Other, comparable, systems are less efficient. With our batteries, each cell can be monitored and each cell can be individually balanced. Again, other comparable battery packs only monitor pack voltage, not cell voltage.
The entire battery system is manufactured by us end to end, including the energy cells, the battery management systems (BMS), inverters and ancillary equipment. This results in technology which provides unparalleled performance capability. A completely in-house R&D team ensures the technology will continue to lead the field.
We never use cobalt – the mining of which is extremely damaging to the environment and often involves child slavery. In addition, the chemical composition of cobalt batteries results in oxidising during thermal runaway which increases fire risk.
Our cell technology is both higher capacity than competitor products (61.5Ah @3.2V), and more energy dense than competitor products (170Wh/Kg). This is because we manufacture prismatic cells over conventional soft pouch cells. This gives even energy density, minimises heat build-up, and increases longevity and ruggedness.
Our materials are ethically sourced and our technology is reusable at the end of first use, and completely recyclable at end of life. As well as being fully recyclable, our products are non-flammable and non-toxic.
Can I add a battery to an existing solar array?
Adding storage to an existing solar array is both easy and advisable. The solar battery storage system can be installed without any changes to your solar panels.
An installer will simply fit a GivEnergy system to store your excess solar and communicate between solar PV, the battery, and the home.
This installation process is straightforward, and typically done inside a day. Once completed:
- The power from your existing solar panels will charge the battery
- The battery will supply the home
- Any leftover energy is sent back to the grid
Will I need to manage my GivEnergy solution?
Once installed, your GivEnergy solution will just work. So, if you prefer, you can set it and forget it. The system will set to ECO by default, ensuring that it works dynamically to maximise your self- consumption. Plus, inbuilt algorithms mean that your battery will charge and discharge intelligently – automatically taking advantage of cheap rates.
All this means that, once set up, there’s no need for you to lift a finger or manually tell the system what to do. However, you can also take a more hands-on role if you prefer.
For example, you can set schedules and timers to configure your energy usage around your lifestyle. You can make continuous changes and optimisations via the portal. You can adjust on the fly via the app. And, for the more technical user, you can even use the GivEnergy API to set custom automations.
So, you can be as hands-on or hands-off with your system as you like.

How do I become a GivEnergy installer?
You will receive free training on GivEnergy products, complete with all the necessary resources. Once you have completed your training, you will be ready to work with our solutions on a dedicated “approved installers only” basis.

What are your installer T&Cs?
We ask that installers keep their knowledge up to date, and complete installations to the professional standard expected. So:
- Re-application will be required if no installations are completed within 1 year
- Refresher training courses should be completed annually
- Any additional training modules for new products (i.e., technology not previously covered in your training) should be completed unless otherwise stated
- All installers are subject to regular review, and we reserve the right to revoke status based on your activity (such as the receipt of complaints, for instance)
I’ve got a problem, who should I contact?
Your first point of contact is your installation company. GivEnergy support is also available should your installer not be able to assist with your query.
At what stage is the warranty considered valid?
The warranty applies once your system has been fully commissioned. Then, commissioning photos must be submitted, accounts must be created, and so on. Please note: each system must be put into operation within 30 days of installation. If an installer does not operate a system within 30 days of installation, the warranty is void.
Firmware versions – what are they and do I need them?
As with any technology, firmware improves the performance of your system. We make constant updates to our software and hardware capabilities where possible.
So, we always advise keeping your system up to date.
